Honda CR-V 2023: New SUV

Overview of New Honda CR-V 2023

With an entirely new exterior and interior design, the 2023 Honda CR-V is better equipped to compete in the fiercely competitive small-SUV market. We are already thrilled with the newly designed CR-V, which has won another 10Best Trucks and SUVs award for 2023 because to its larger dimensions and increased passenger capacity. The Civic compact car served as inspiration for the interior's appealing appearance, which is enhanced with contemporary technology. One example of this technology is the infotainment system, which comes equipped with a 9.0-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Naturally, a number of basic driver aids, such as adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assistance, are also included with every CR-V. The basic engine is a 190-hp turbo four, with a 204-hp hybrid powertrain available as an option.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine and Earth Dreams CVT that power the S, E, and V models are the identical powertrain configuration. The S and E have front-wheel drive, while only the V has all-wheel drive. The turbocharged variations' specifications are as follows:

·        1.5-liter direct-injected turbocharged inline-four engine

·        Engine output: 243 Nm between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm and 193 PS (190 horsepower or 142 kW) at 6,000 rpm

·        CVT; AWD (V); FWD (S and E) as the gearbox

·        200 km/h is the maximum speed.

·        Time from 0 to 100 km/h: 9.7 (S); 9.8 (E); 10.4 (V) seconds.

·        7.5 l/100 km (V); 7 l/100 km (S and E) is the fuel consumption.

With regard to the 2.0L e: HEV RS version, an electric motor positioned in the front is powered by a battery that is charged by a 2.0L normally aspirated petrol engine. Through a lock-up clutch, the engine can drive the front wheels directly at higher speeds where it is more efficient to do so. The following are the details of the hybrid powertrain of the CR-V:

·        Engine: 2.0 litre inline-four Atkinson cycle gasoline engine with direct injection

·        Engine output: 190 Nm at 4,500 rpm and 148 PS (146 horsepower or 109 kW) @ 6,100 rpm

·        Transmission: FWD with an electronic CVT

·        Electric motor output: 335 Nm from 0 to 2,000 rpm and 184 PS (181 horsepower or 135 kW) from 5,000 to 8,000 rpm

·        Highest speed: 187 km/h

Bigger Body and More Upscale Exterior

The new CR-V, which is 40 mm longer on the wheelbase and measures 80 mm longer and 10 mm wider, carries on the size increase seen in previous versions. Honda claims that the enlarged body would result in increased back legroom and a boot that can hold 587 litres of goods.

More road presence should also be achieved by the larger dimensions and a more assertive front end design with shorter headlights and a big grille with hexagonal mesh. For the first time, the CR-V will be available in Malaysia with full-LED headlights with sequential indications and an active grille shutter, which improves aerodynamics at higher speeds. Although the iconic L-shaped taillights are still present, the CR-V's style is more refined than that of the outgoing model thanks to a straight shoulder line, minimal wheel arch flares, and a less dramatic window line kink. Blacked-out components like the door handles, wing mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels are advantageous to the e:HEV RS variant.

Incredibly Fascinating Interior Space

Although Honda Malaysia has not released any interior images, information already know from other markets that the CR-V will feature a more upscale interior that heavily references the most recent Civic. These consist of a broad centre console, a freestanding centre touchscreen, and full-width mesh-covered air conditioning vents. Similar to the Civic, technologies including wireless Apple CarPlay, a Qi wireless charger, a 9.0-inch infotainment display, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are expected.

Other features include a new hands-free powered tailgate that closes automatically as you walk away, eight levels of rear seat reclining and up to nine litres of storage beneath the centre armrest—a hallmark of the CR-V. The Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance systems, which has been enhanced over the previous generation and now includes an adaptive high beam that keeps you from blinding incoming cars, is one of the safety features of the new CR-V.

Better centering and steering advice are also offered by the upgraded lane centering assist system. Last but not least, the Honda Connect app-based telematics system and 360-degree video system will be available on the CR-V straight out of the factory.

  • Auto High-Beam (AHB)
