The Launch of Smart #1

Four months after it was initially unveiled to the public, the Smart #1 EV has finally had its grand launch in Malaysia. Proton New Energy Technology (Pro-Net) has delivered on its pledge to introduce the new EV into our market by the end of this year, even though it might take the corporation some time to get there. In addition, smart Malaysia launched five all-inclusive premium ownership packages on top of the basic warranty with the goal of giving its clients a worry-free and complete travel experience.

Variant form for Smart #1

As previously mentioned, the fully imported model of the all-electric smart #1, whose suffix is pronounced as hashtag one, is offered in three variation versions. The rear-motor Pro model is the entry-level model. Next in line is the Premium variant, which was the subject of the first preview, and the top-of-the-line Brabus dual-motor performance version.

You can get Digital White, Laser Red, Quantum Blue, and Future Green versions of Smart #1 Pro and Premium. All of these colorways come with the Eclipse Black roof, and there is also the Lumen Yellow option, which is only available for the Premium model. For the Smart #1 Brabus, colour options include Digital White, Cyber Silver, and Laser Red, with an Eclipse Black roof as standard. This variation is also available with the Radiant Red roof option if the primary colorway is Meta Black, Cyber Silver, or Atom Grey - Matte. The Premium and Brabus variants can also be outfitted entirely in Atom Grey.

Quick specs for Smart #1 Brabus, Premium, and Pro

The two electric motors on the Smart #1 Brabus, which is equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD), produce a combined power of 315kW (422hp) and 543Nm of torque. A 66kWh lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack aids the EV's WLTP-rated range of up to 400km. The Smart #1 Brabus also includes a 22kW onboard AC charger, allowing it to be charged from 10-80% in 3 hours. The Smart #1 Premium, the family's mid-tier product, also has the same battery and AC charging configuration.

However, as compared to its Brabus relatives, the Premium model has a slightly longer WLTP range of 440km. This is mostly due to the fact that this variation features a single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) arrangement with a lower power of 200kW (268hp) and 343Nm of torque.

The Smart #1 Pro model has the same RWD electric motor as the Premium model but is fueled by a significantly smaller 49kWh lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) battery. This model has a substantially lesser WLTP range (315km) than the rest of the family. Because it has a less powerful 7.2kW inbuilt AC charger, charging the Smart #1 Pro from 10% to 80% takes substantially longer at 6 hours.

All Smart #1 models, whether Pro, Premium, or Brabus, offer DC rapid charging of up to 150kW, allowing them to be charged from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. Similarly, the top speed of all three Smart #1 models is 180km/h.

Having said that, the Brabus can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the Premium and Pro variants require 6.7 seconds.
